Aaradhya Bachchan, the 13-year-old daughter of Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, has taken legal action against the spread of misleading and false information online. In response to her plea, the Delhi High Court has issued notices to Google and other online platforms, urging them to take necessary steps to remove the misleading content. According to a report by Bar and Bench, Aaradhya has requested a summary judgment in her case to address the harmful misinformation circulating about her. This legal move underscores the importance of protecting individuals, particularly minors, from online defamation and malicious content.

Legal notices have been served to several defendants, including Google, Bollywood Times, and other online platforms, in response to the spread of false and misleading content about Aaradhya Bachchan. The matter is set for its next hearing on 17th March 2025. This comes after a previous ruling by the Delhi High Court in April 2023, where the court directed Google to remove deceptive videos falsely claiming that Aaradhya was either critically ill or had passed away. This ongoing legal action highlights the importance of holding platforms accountable for the spread of harmful misinformation.
During the 2023 proceedings, Justice C Hari Shankar strongly condemned the circulation of misleading content, emphasizing that every child is entitled to dignity and respect. He stated that spreading false information about a minor’s health is “entirely unacceptable in law.”
In the earlier ruling, the Delhi High Court instructed Google to disclose the identities of those responsible for uploading such harmful content and mandated that any future misleading videos be flagged and removed promptly. The central government was also directed to take action to restrict access to such material. Additionally, Google was reminded of its legal obligation to comply with the regulatory framework in place to prevent the spread of such deceptive content. This highlights the court’s commitment to protecting minors from online harm and ensuring platforms fulfill their responsibilities.
