Bangladesh’s interim government Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus, has invited tech billionaire Elon Musk to visit the country and introduce the Starlink satellite internet service.

In a letter dated February 19, Yunus emphasized that Musk’s visit would provide an opportunity to engage with young Bangladeshis, who stand to benefit greatly from this cutting-edge technology.

“Let us work together to deliver our mutual vision for a better future,” Yunus wrote in the letter, according to a report by the state-run BSS news agency on Sunday.

Yunus further stated that integrating Starlink’s connectivity into Bangladesh’s infrastructure would have a transformational impact, especially for the country’s enterprising youth, rural and vulnerable women, and remote and underserved communities.

To expedite the process, the Chief Adviser has directed his High Representative, Khalilur Rahman, to closely coordinate with the SpaceX team and ensure that all necessary preparations for Starlink’s launch in Bangladesh are completed within the next 90 working days.

On February 13, Muhammad Yunus had an extensive telephone discussion with Elon Musk to explore future collaboration and advance efforts to introduce Starlink satellite internet services in Bangladesh.

The following day, on February 14, Yunus shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Had a great meeting with Mr. @elonmusk. We agreed to work together and hope to launch Starlink in Bangladesh soon.”

Musk responded briefly but positively, saying: “Looking forward to it.”
