PM Awas Yojana 2: UP Govt Announces Rs 2.5 Lakh Subsidy & Extra Aid for Senior Citizens, Widows

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-2 for urban areas, the state government will provide significant assistance to senior citizens, widows, and abandoned women. In addition to the main subsidy for the middle-income group, senior citizens will receive an additional ₹30,000, while widows and abandoned women will get ₹20,000 in extra support.

The Cabinet, through a circulation process, has approved a proposal from the Urban Development Department. Prior to the Cabinet meeting scheduled for January 22, which will be chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the Prayagraj Kumbh, 22 proposals were approved through this method. However, the government has yet to provide specific details. It is expected that comprehensive information about the key decisions will be shared after the Cabinet meeting during the Mahakumbh.

PM Awas Yojana-2: Rs 10,000 Reward for Completing House Construction Within 12 Months

A major proposal approved by the Cabinet through circulation under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-2 for urban areas includes an incentive for those who complete their house construction within 12 months. These beneficiaries, who are already eligible for a grant of ₹2.50 lakh to build their homes, will receive an additional ₹10,000 reward.

PM Awas Yojana-2: Houses Cannot Be Sold or Transferred for 5 Years

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-2, the state government will provide additional support for elderly individuals, widows, and abandoned women. However, the houses provided through this scheme cannot be sold or transferred for five years. The scheme consists of four categories: interest subsidy, individual housing construction by beneficiaries, affordable housing through partnerships, and affordable rental housing schemes.

PM Awas Yojana-2: Subsidy Up To Rs 2.50 Lakh Through Banks

Under the interest subsidy scheme, individuals taking loans will receive up to ₹2.50 lakh from banks. A similar ₹2.50 lakh grant will be provided for construction on a 30-square-meter plot. Additionally, a subsidy of up to ₹2.50 lakh will be available for buildings constructed by development authorities and housing development councils for economically weaker sections, low-income groups, and middle-income groups. Priority will be given to marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgender individuals, SC/ST communities, widows, unmarried women, and minorities.
