The Indus Valley script has remained an unsolved mystery for over a century, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Sunday, announcing a prize of 1 million US dollars for anyone who successfully deciphers it.
Speaking at the inauguration of a 3-day international conference marking the centenary of the discovery of the Indus civilisation, Stalin remarked, “We are still unable to fully understand the script of the Indus Valley civilisation that once thrived.” Despite ongoing efforts by scholars to crack the code, the riddle remains unsolved. To encourage further research, Stalin declared that a prize of 1 million US dollars would be awarded to individuals or organizations that can finally unlock its secrets.
The Indus civilisation, one of the world’s earliest urban cultures, is renowned for its advanced society, but its script remains one of the greatest unsolved enigmas in history. The reasons behind the civilisation’s decline, as well as its cultural and historical context, also continue to perplex researchers.
