Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has agreed to pay Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to choreographer Dhanashree Verma. According to Bar and Bench, Chahal consented to this settlement as part of the divorce terms. Of the total amount, Rs 2.37 crore has already been paid. The family court viewed the delay in paying the remaining amount as non-compliance.
Several reports had earlier claimed that choreographer Dhanashree Verma was seeking Rs 60 crore in alimony from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. However, Dhanashree’s family denied these claims, calling them “baseless.”
A Verma family member released a statement expressing disappointment over the false reports, urging the media to avoid spreading misinformation. The statement clarified that Dhanashree had never asked for or demanded any such amount.
“We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims about the alimony figure. No such amount was ever asked, demanded, or even offered. Publishing such unverified information is irresponsible and causes unnecessary harm to both parties and their families. We urge the media to fact-check and respect everyone’s privacy,” the statement read.
Chahal and Dhanashree, who married in 2020, have been living separately for nearly a year. Their divorce is set to be finalized on March 20.
