India won the three-match T20 series against the tour of Australia thanks to a scintillating innings by Suryakumar Yadav and a half-century from Virat Kohli in the decider.
India won the toss and asked the visiting team to bat first as the decider of the series turned out to be quite an upset. Australia's Cameron Green played a brilliant innings and attacked the Indian bowlers at the start of the game, scoring 52 runs in just 21 balls. Green's innings included seven fours and three sixes as he gave the team a brilliant start from the bottom. But, things started to slow down for the Aussies after Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Green as Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade, and Aaron Finch's single-digit scores, all fell cheaply. As it looked, momentum was building in favor of the home team with a brilliant performance from young Axar Patel, who finished the night with three wickets. But, Tim David turned the game around with a 27-ball 54, which included two fours and four sixes, to end the innings firmly. Virat Kohli stabilized the innings with some sensible play before Suryakumar Yadav came out all guns blazing as he scored runs around the park, as he often does. Kohli got the crowd to their feet as he danced on the track, before he sent Adam Zampa's delivery to another level. Yadav played an innings to remember as he ended the Australian bowling attack with a scintillating 69 off 36 balls as he walked back into the dugout and went for a standing ovation from the visitors. Kohli continued the attack as he smashed a half-century in style to put India firmly in the driving seat. Hardik Pandya came to the crease in place of Yadav and played a responsible innings without taking a wicket as Kohli played a memorable innings of 63 runs under pressure. But, Pandya and new batsman Dinesh Karthik made no mistake in finishing the game and wrapping up the series in style.
