The BJP-led Delhi government approved the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana on Saturday, allocating ₹5,100 crore to provide ₹2,500 per month to eligible women. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated, “The promise of ₹2,500 to my sisters in Delhi has been officially approved by the Cabinet today. ₹5,100 crore has been allocated for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana so that my poor sisters can start receiving the benefits. This is a significant step towards ensuring economic stability and social upliftment, especially for women from underprivileged families.

The BJP had promised ₹2,500 per month for women in its ‘Sankalp Patra’ before the Delhi Assembly elections, surpassing AAP’s offer of ₹2,100.

Announcing the scheme’s approval at a Mahila Diwas event hosted by the party’s Mahila Morcha at JLN Stadium, BJP National President JP Nadda congratulated CM Rekha Gupta. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP has been committed to empowering women across various sectors.
