During Covid, Twitter refused to heed the complaints of the government, saying that the rules of India did not apply to it. At the same time it was decided that the government can constitute a Grievance Cell to deal with them.
Grievance Committees For Social Media: Social media users will now soon be able to complain to the government of Twitter and Facebook. The government is going to constitute a Grievance Committee in the coming 3 months. This committee will be an option for users to make complaints in case they disagree with those rules and decisions of platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
This Grievance Committee will listen to the complaints and problems of the users which are being caused by social media companies and the company is not resolving those problems. According to the gazette notification issued on Friday (October 28), these committees will be constituted within three months. This move can be seen as control over big tech companies Facebook and Twitter.
