The exam city for JEE Main 2025 will be announced by the first week of January, and admit cards will be issued three days before each exam date.

The results for the first session are expected by February 12, 2025.

JEE Main 2025, which grants admission to undergraduate engineering programs, will carry a total of 300 marks. The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently announced that optional questions, introduced in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be discontinued for this exam cycle. Between 2021 and 2024, the test offered 30 optional questions in both Engineering and Architecture/Planning papers.

Previously, the Engineering paper had a total of 90 questions, with 20 from each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Section A, and 10 optional questions per subject in Section B, from which candidates needed to attempt five.

For 2025, JEE Main Paper 1 will consist of 25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the official JEE Main website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, and the NTA website, nta.ac.in, for updates and detailed information.

JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam for undergraduate admissions to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other technical institutes. It also serves as the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, the entrance test for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

The NTA has issued important instructions for candidates:

  • All applications must be submitted online only at jeemain.nta.ac.in.
  • Each candidate is permitted to submit only one application; multiple applications will lead to disqualification, even if discovered at a later stage.
  • Candidates must follow all guidelines provided in the information bulletin and on the NTA website, as failure to do so could result in disqualification.
  • The email address and mobile number used in the application form should belong to the candidate or their parents/guardians, as all official communications will be sent to the registered email or mobile number.
  • For assistance with the application process, candidates can contact NTA at 011-40759000/011-69227700 or via email at [email protected].
