Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav and comedian Bharti Singh have been summoned by the Delhi Police in connection with a ₹500 crore app-based scam. According to a police officer, the summons were issued after authorities received over 500 complaints, alleging that several influencers and YouTubers promoted the HIBOX mobile application on their platforms, encouraging people to invest through the app, as reported by PTI.
The complaint alleges that social media influencers and YouTubers, including Saurav Joshi, Abhishek Malhan, Purav Jha, Elvish Yadav, Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachiya, Lakshay Choudhary, Adarsh Singh, Amit, and Dilraj Singh Rawat, promoted the HIBOX app and urged people to invest through it.
The HIBOX smartphone application, launched in February this year, attracted investments from over 30,000 people. According to DCP (IFSO Special Cell) Hemant Tiwari, the app promised guaranteed returns of 1 to 5 percent per day, amounting to 30 to 90 percent per month. However, by July, the app started withholding payments, citing issues like technical glitches and legal complications.
“The accused companies disappeared after closing their office in Noida, Uttar Pradesh,” said DCP Tiwari. Police arrested Sivaram, the main suspect, and recovered ₹18 crore from his four bank accounts.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had linked the assets of controversial YouTuber Elvish Yadav to singer Fazilpuria during a broader investigation. These properties were located in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has previously questioned Elvish Yadav and Fazilpuria, with their statements already on record. Yadav was earlier detained by Noida police for his alleged involvement in selling snake venom. Following this, the ED filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Elvish Yadav also made headlines by winning Bigg Boss OTT 2, becoming the first wildcard contestant to claim the trophy.
