Deoghar Airport has achieved an imperative milestone with the recent approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for night operations.
The development marks a crucial advancement in the mineral-rich state of Jharkhand, enabling the airport to facilitate safe flights throughout the day and night, regardless of weather conditions.
Announcing the details, the Airports Authority of India on X mentioned, “Get ready to witness a new era of aviation excellence in Jharkhand, as AAI’s Deoghar Airport recently received DGCA approval for night operations. The airport is now equipped with all required equipment for safe operations during all weather conditions during day and night time.”
Meanwhile, the go-ahead for night operations at Deoghar Airport is poised to bolster regional connectivity and religious tourism with direct connectivity to Baba Baidyanath Dham, a prominent religious site in the region.
Round-the-clock operation facility
With the imminent commencement of round-the-clock operations, passengers will now have the flexibility to choose between daytime and nighttime flight schedules. This expanded time frame offers passengers more options for travel, catering to diverse preferences and accommodating varying schedules.
Deoghar airport is spread across 653.75 acres of land and built in an area of 4,000 square meters. The airport has a 2,500-meter-long runway, which is even suitable for the landing and take-off of AirBus 320 type of aircraft.
Deoghar Airport also holds strategic significance as a vital transportation hub in the region. Located on the northeastern side of the state and approximately a six-hour drive from the state capital Ranchi, the airport serves residents living in northern West Bengal and southeastern Bihar. Further, it has also garnered employment opportunities in the local tourism sector.
