Rohit Sharma‘s brilliant 76 and Shreyas Iyer’s crucial 48 guided India to chase down 252 in 49 overs against New Zealand, securing their third Champions Trophy title.
India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets on Sunday (March 9) to clinch the Champions Trophy 2025 title at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Chasing 252, India relied on captain Rohit Sharma’s stellar 76-run knock, reaching the target in 49 overs with six wickets down.

Rohit faced 83 balls, smashing 7 fours and 3 sixes. The 37-year-old skipper built a 105-run opening stand with Shubman Gill (31) in 18.4 overs, setting the foundation for India’s record-extending third Champions Trophy win.
India got off to a flying start in the final with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s 105-run opening stand, but New Zealand staged a strong comeback by dismissing Gill, Virat Kohli (1), and Rohit in quick succession, reducing India by 17 runs.
Gill fell to a sensational flying catch by Glenn Phillips, while Kohli was trapped LBW by Michael Bracewell on the first ball of his spell. Kohli opted for DRS, but the decision went against him.

Rohit, looking to rebuild with Shreyas Iyer (48), tried to launch Rachin Ravindra for a big six but lost track of the ball and was stumped by Tom Latham, shifting momentum back to New Zealand.
