Sukesh Chandrashekar, a conman currently in judicial custody for alleged multi-crore fraud, has proposed a $3 billion investment in OpenAI, directing his offer to the company’s CEO, Sam Altman.
In a letter to Sam Altman, Sukesh Chandrashekar proposed an immediate $1 billion investment in OpenAI, with an additional $2 billion over the next five years to support the company’s operations in India. He wrote, “As you and your company are now working towards becoming a part of India’s National AI Agenda, I want to play a small role by making an investment in OpenAI of $1 billion immediately and further extend it to another $2 billion over the next five years for your Indian operations.”
Chandrashekar continued, addressing Altman directly: “Sam, why go to venture capital investors? Why should the big boys always have all the fun? Sam, please just take my money.” He also reflected on his personal struggles, stating, “Just like how you started from scratch, I too have started from a humble beginning. The only difference is a lot of baggage has been tagged along with me—false allegations and legal cases, none of which have been proven against me.”
The letter was sent through the legal firm Anantam Legal from Chandrashekar’s prison cell, where he is currently being held on charges related to multiple fraud and money-laundering cases under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Chandrashekar’s Claims About His Business Ventures
In his letter, Chandrashekar claimed to have built a successful online gaming and betting platform that generates nearly $3 billion annually. He also stated that his businesses are based outside India and expressed a strong interest in investing in the country’s tech and AI sectors.
This is not the first time Chandrashekar has made bold investment proposals. Previously, he offered to acquire a 50-70% controlling stake in filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. In a letter sent last year through the same legal firm, he described the offer as a “no-negotiation” deal, promising to complete the transaction within 48 hours if terms were accepted.
Past Investment Offers
Last November, Chandrashekar—who claims to be in a relationship with Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez—made headlines with his plan to invest $135 million (Rs 1,130 crore) in a Los Angeles studio, which he intended to dedicate to his “lady love.”
Despite his ongoing legal troubles, Chandrashekar continues to make high-profile investment offers. However, it remains unclear whether any of these proposals will materialize.
