Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the merger of four regions of Ukraine with Russia, following a referendum called by separatist leaders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the annexation of four regions of Ukraine to his country. Putin and other officials raised slogans of 'Russia, Russia... Russia' after signing the merger agreement. After this, Putin in his address fiercely targeted Western countries including America. According to reports, the formal proceedings for the merger of four regions of Ukraine with Russia will be done in the Russian Parliament next week.

These four regions held a five-day referendum which lasted from 23 September to 27 September. Separatist leaders and officials of these areas have been demanding a plebiscite for a long time. After this, on Friday (September 30), Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the merger of Ukraine's Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson with Russia.

According to reports, at an event held in the Kremlin, Russian President Putin said that Russia is not going to make the Soviet Union back. He said Russia was ready to negotiate with Ukraine but would not give back the newly merged part. He said that now four new regions have joined the country. With this, Putin said, 'We call on Kyiv to stop military action and return to the negotiating table. We are ready for talks.
