Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has made a brand of himself thanks to his incredible football ability and his sharp business acumen as the striker has built up a diverse portfolio.
The 38-year-old has investments in multiple fields, and the latest addition to his ever-growing repertoire is his foray into the world of the fast pacer, rapid-growing sport padel.
The Al Nassr player has been awarded a lucrative contract to construct the ‘City of Padel’ in the coastal town of Oeiras in his home nation, by the Padel Federation of the country.
Ronaldo is set to invest €5 million in the aspiring project, which is expected to be equipped with a facility fit for usage in international competitions.
Ricardo Oliveira, the president of the Portuguese Padel Federation, said, “It’s a dream come true. We couldn’t have better partners. A great businessman and the best sportsman in the world. We can say, with total certainty, that the facilities will be unparalleled.”
“This will consolidate Portugal as an international padel power,” he added.
Ronaldo, now plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League following his unceremonious exit from his former club Manchester United after the relationship between the player and the club bittered.
The five-time Balon d’Or winner’s move to the oil-rich nation’s ambitious project was followed by a swathe of football stars from Europe making big-money moves to the Middle Eastern nation’s football circuit.
Ronaldo claimed his first trophy in the Middle Eastern nation as he led his side to an Arab Club Champions Cup victory.
Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane joined Ronaldo at the Saudi club following his nightmare time at Bayern Munich in the recently concluded window. Al Nassr have also added Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic to their ranks, while rival Saudi Pro League teams have roped in multiple multi-million dollar deals including the likes of Karim Benzema, N’golo Kante, Roberto Firmino and Riyadh Mahrez.
