No Jasprit Bumrah? No problem! Mohammed Siraj rose to the occasion with a brilliant spell on a flat Edgbaston pitch, dismantling England for 408 and handing India a commanding 180-run first-innings lead in the second Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on Friday (July 4).

All 10 English wickets fell to just two Indian pacers—Mohammed Siraj, who claimed six, and Akash Deep, who grabbed four key scalps. Their relentless effort kept India in control, powering the visitors to a memorable win and leveling the series, despite a massive 303-run stand between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith.

Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational spell, finishing with figures of 6/70 and claiming key wickets including Zak Crawley, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes, before cleaning up the tail with the dismissals of Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Shoaib Bashir.

At 31, Siraj became the first visiting pacer in over three decades to take a six-wicket haul at Edgbaston—the last being in 1993. His figures now rank as the third-best by a visiting fast bowler at the venue. Siraj also joins an elite list as just the fifth pacer to register a five-wicket haul against England at Edgbaston.

Mohammed Siraj’s fiery 6/70 not only rattled England but also etched his name into the record books. It was his first-ever five-wicket haul in England, following four previous four-wicket efforts. This performance also marked the fourth five-wicket haul of his career, second only to his sensational 6/15 against South Africa in Cape Town last year.

With this feat, Siraj became just the fifth Indian pacer to claim a five-wicket haul in England, joining the elite ranks of Amar Singh, Chetan Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ishant Sharma.

His figures of 6/70 now stand as the third-best by a visiting pacer at Edgbaston:
