World News : Liz Truss was named leader of the governing Conservative Party and Britain’s next prime minister on Monday, taking power at a time when the country is facing life crises, industrial unrest and recession.
After several weeks of bad-tempered and divisive leadership contests in Britain , in which the foreign minister went head-to-head against former finance minister Rishi Sunak, Truss came out on top of the votes for members of the Conservative Party.
The announcement would trigger the start of a handover from Boris Johnson, who was forced to announce his resignation in July after months of scandal, eroding support for his Britain administration.
